Taking One For The Team Tour - Simple Plan || Concerts

Thursday, 3 March 2016

If you follow me on twitter or instagram you will probably already know that last weekend I went to two concerts and met both bands. I mean, I haven’t stopped talking/posting pics about it... One of them being one of my all time favourite bands. I have loved Simple Plan since the early-2000s. Their lyrics have always spoken to me on a level that not many other bands do, they've helped me so much. So, when I had the chance to go to their concert and meet them I just did it. I had seen them before in 2013 but I was so excited to see them again and finally meet them after all these years.

I queued since midday with some friends but only two of us had VIP tickets so we got in two hours before everyone else. Which was really convenient since it had started pouring and even hailing!! Early entrance means front row and as you can imagine I was so happy! I had never been front row at a show and the fact that it happened when I was seeing Simple Plan was just perfect.
Obviously, there were support bands: The Bottom Line and Ghost Town. They were both okay but to be honest I just was waiting to see Simple Plan to be honest. When they came on stage I couldn’t stop smiling, literally. They opened the show with one of their new songs, Opinion Overload, which made everyone jump and go crazy. It was followed by a mix of songs from their previous albums and songs from the new album, Taking One For The Team, and two covers.

I sang at the top of my lungs, every single word of every single song and I had the time of my life. I smiled and I cried. But what can you expect though when your favourite band plays your favourite songs, songs that have such powerful meanings to you? You just can’t help it. They never disappoint and pull off a great show. They even threw huge plastic beach balls for us to play with during one of the songs!!

One of my favourite things was how good I felt, like I barely had anxiety and the crowd was so good. No pushing or anything!!! Everyone was having fun and jumping and going crazy but nobody got hurt.
Now, the moment I had been waiting for. I was finally going to meet them. After the show ended everyone with a VIP was taken backstage to a room. Since the actual VIP thing was called Post-Game Pizza Party, pizzas were waiting for us along with other foods and drinks. Also, we got a signed poster and a card before the band arrived. I had never been VIP at anything so it was quite exciting haha I can only speak for me and my friend, and the girl we met, but we were so freaking nervous. We were minutes away from meeting our favourite band and we still didn’t think it was real. When they entered the room it felt so weird we were like who shall we go talk to first? What do we do? AAAH But we managed and we went to see them one by one. Well, one of them was missing and hadn’t attended any of the VIP parties on the previous shows either, which we thought was odd, but today he explained why and it’s totally understandable.

We hugged them and talked with them and somehow it still felt a bit weird. What do you talk about with the band that you’ve been listening to since you were 8 years old? Damn. Still, it was amazing, they are such great and nice people, I owe them so much. We also got some pictures with them and they signed our stuff. And my friend wanted to ask Pierre, the lead singer, to write some lyrics for her to get tattooed and since I’ve always wanted to get  a SP related tattoo I thought I’d do the same and I asked him to write me: I’ll try until I get it right. They aren’t lyrics from any of my favourite songs from them but I love the meaning of the phrase I chose.

I look so bad in my pictures with them so I'm not gonna post them but I am happy that I got to hug them and tell them how much they mean to me. I just hope I can meet them again some day.

Are you going to any concerts soon? Have you ever been front row at a concert? Or met your favourite band/artist?

  1. So good! You know I've been waiting to read this and it sounds incredible and I can tell it meant sooo much to you. I'm so glad you had the chance to go! :) I don't have any concerts coming up, my last one was OneDirection and that was as close as I've gotten as it was floor seats!
