13 Good Things

Friday, 31 March 2017

So I’m back again with a positive post. Now that I’m done with exams (at least before the Easter break…) I thought what better way to end the month tan to reflect on the good things that have happened. So here’s my list.
1. New music. Ed Sheeran’s was a wonderful start for the month, wasn’t it? Although I still haven’t listened to it enough to have favourites… Then there’s also been a few new songs from The Maine, their new album comes out April 7 and I’m so excited!!! Also Lewis Watson’s new album, I discovered him thanks to Carmen and I’m so happy that I decided to listen to him because his music is beautiful. Oh and also there's new All Time Low music. Seriously we got so many new stuff this month we’ve been blessed, I’m so happy.

2. Talking about music, I went to the You Me At Six concert in Barcelona and I had the best time. Not only because of the music and the wonderful people I met but because for the first time in a very long time I completely let go at a concert and didn’t give a single fuck (sorry) about what everyone else was doing. I was just enjoying my time and singing at the top of my lungs. I also got to meet them later and I may or may not have been the happiest I’d been in a while. I forgot about all my problems and about uni and everything and I certainly did shed a tear or two when I got home. It’s making me emotional just thinking about it.

3. International Woman’s Day. Do I really need to say more? I didn't do anything out of the normal but it was great seeing empowering posts from women all around the world.

4. Nice words from other people. Someone I appreciate told me they were proud of me and honestly it lifted my mood completely and it still makes me happy just remembering about it.

5. Doing well in exams and uni essays that I genuinely thought I wouldn’t get a good grade in.
6. Going to the cinema twice. I rarely go to the cinema because anything cultural is hella expensive in Spain. But I managed to get some discounts so you know, gotta make the most out of it. I went to see Hidden Figures at the start of the month and it was IN-CRE-DI-BLE. It touches on so many important subjects whilst also having a touch of comedy and I loved that. Also those women were absolutely amazing and intelligent, truly admiring what they did, to be honest. Then I also went to see Beauty and the Beast when it came out and oh my god I didn’t expect it to be this good but it was? The songs were perfect (the old ones and the new ones, seriously have you heard Evermore?). I love that we see a different type of Belle in a way, you know with her boots and her being the inventor and not the dad, love that Emma decided to include that. Dan Stevens was also brilliant and so was the rest of the cast. Also, the cinematography is beautiful, there’s so much detail in every scene, I loved it. I seriously want to watch it again.

7. The new trailer for "Spider-man: Homecoming". I love Marvel and you don’t even know how excited I am to watch this movie. Spidey is one of my favourite marvel characters (along with bucky and loki) and I love Peter Parker and Tom Holland so you know, perfect combo… Anyway, the trailer looks so good and I can already tell that the movie is gonna be fantastic.
8. Going out. I went out 3 times in 4 days and if you know me you know this is so unlike me. I never go out this much. And certainly not in so little time. I need my time to recover from social stuff. But I did have a great time and I think it really did me well. Even if a part of me felt guilty for not being at home studying... Also when I say going out I don't mean going clubbing and all that (because I don't like that at all), I just mean walking around the city, going to the cinema, to have dinner or just hanging around with friends.

9. Planning things for Amsterdam. Can you believe that this time next week I’ll be there? Because I sure can’t. I really really can’t picture it. I guess it won’t sink in until I’m there. Also, do you know how hard it is to save money? Like I’ve been saving money since last summer when I had a job and then when I got money for Christmas but everyday life happens and you need to buy stuff but you also don’t want to because you need it all for Amsterdam?  It’s damn hard. Especially when you currently don’t have any incoming money. I certainly will need to go get myself a job when I get back.

10. Being more confident with myself and what I wear. For a very long time, I’ve not felt good with my body and I’m certainly not 100% confident with it (not even close) but lately, I’ve been trying to see the good and not the bad and only wearing things that I’m comfortable with and that makes me feel confident. And it definitely has worked a bit. I’ve also started working out sort of regularly again and it feels good.
11. Getting into drawing and painting again. Okay so this only happened a couple of days ago but I could feel my creative-self being happy again. I decided to start a watercolor painting of Dodie Clark and it isn’t the best with me being out of practice and all but I did enjoy making it and she liked my tweet with the unfinished photo I posted so I guess that’s something good!!!!

12. The little things. Every day when I get back from uni and after I’ve had lunch I just lay on the sofa and hang with my dog for as long as the sun is there. And it just makes me so damn happy.

13. The fact that Kenzie was in Barcelona and knowing she had a great time. Sadly, we couldn’t meet but I’m just so happy that she loved the city and enjoyed it with her family! If you’re reading this, I hope we can make it work another time but still, I can’t wait to read about all the things you did and see all the pictures, I mean you told me a few things already but still! I’m glad you’re enjoying your time abroad!

That’s it for this month’s ‘happy things’ post. Tell me in the comments 3 good things that have happened to you this month, I’d really love to know!!
